Hi, I've been working on this problem for awhile, and already asked a question about it.

It's late and I'm tired, so I am not going to check all of your figures, but I did check your initial energy calculation and that is correct. And I think that's the main thing you need to solve the rest of the problem. You're told to ignore the gravitational energy when the trampoline is depressed, so the potential energy in the trampoline = kinetic energy as the gymnast lands on the trampoline = gymnast's initial total energy.

So set 1/2 k x^2 = 2373 joules and solve for x.

What are some exercises that could later help me in karate?

I would like to start taking Karate in November. I was wondering if there are any exercises that I could start doing to help me get ready for karate training. I understand that I should not start attempting karate moves on my own because that could develop bad habits or cause injury. I have a mini-trampoline and some small weights. Any ideas?

Why doesn't my 8ft trampoline mat fit my trampoline?

I have an 8ft trampoline which I bought from Toys R Us 2 years ago. Recently I replaced the mat but I never fitted the trampoline. Why? The trampoline mat was designed for 8ft trampolines and it measured 79 inches. Will I need a smaller trampoline mat?

How can I clean my trampoline?

I have two big trees in my backyard so I always have branches and leaves on my trampoline. What is the best way to get rid of the little acorns and debris? I have a 15 foot round one with a net. i would say get a leaf blower and blow it off if not get a broom and sweep it into the area where you enter also you can take some springs off from the side so it hangs open one side and sweep it into there thats what i would do.

where can i find a spring pad and enclosure net for a trampoline?

we had a trampoline given to us and it doesnt have a mat. we also want to buy one of those enclosure nets since we have 3 small children. is there anywhere i can buy these two things as a set and save a little money? i was looking at pad prices on a few sites and they seemed outragously high. has anyone ever found a relatively cheap spring pad anywhere? (for a full size round trampoline)

My advice would be to sell the base (and any parts that came with it) and buy a new 3 kid trampoline. The last one I looked at buying for my son was $150AUD. (it had all the pads and the netting)

It could support me (120kg) and was big enough to have 3 kids smashing heads together in there.

my guess is that, in terms of bouncyness, it is somewhere between one of those aerobic trampolines and a normal trampoline, so be careful because it may bounce you a little higher than you think.

other than that, i dont see why you couldnt take the net off, or why someone other than a little kid wouldnt be able to use it. it doesnt advertise a weight limit, it is made out of the same materials as a standard large size trampoline, and odds are the net is optional because they couldnt box it like that, so you probably wouldnt even have to put the net on in the first place

just be careful and get used to how high it bounces you

I want to plan a great 8th grade graduation party, ideas?

My school has people from 5 different towns, so i'm not going to see everyone every day in highschool, so it's important to me I have one last get together before everything changes. there are only 2 out of 34 kids going to my highschool (very small school, only 34 kids in 8th grade) I have a big backyard, with an above ground pool and a trampoline. a lot of the kids live in the city (ghetto lol), where as i am in the suburbs (very white, but we all get along realllly well), so how can i make them comfortable as well as me and my suburbian pals comfortable. maybe mix up the music with rock, pop, rap, everything? and also what about food? i mean pizza, chips, etc would be easy but i wnat something a little more fun, more unique. any good ideas? i really want this to be something to remember. i know its a few months away but better ot start planning now then to wait til the last second.

What size trampoline should I get?

I want to buy a trampoline for my kids. I have 3 kids, 12, 14, and 2, and I don't know what size to get. I basically want the smallest one I can get while still allowing all 3 kids to play on it at once. It will also need a safety enclosure. I have seen 10', 12', and 14'. What is your experience with any of these sizes/number of kids that can have fun playing on it? Also, does anyone know if you can have a safety enclosure AND a cover for the trampoline itself (we get a lot of snow here).

Home Gyms: the No Sweat Way to Increasing your Property Value

With American obesity on the rise, it is more important than ever for people to be conscious of how they treat their bodies. Working out is imperative if you want to have the stamina and good health to ward off preventable diseases. For many people however, working out in a gym can be intimidating. Long equipment lineups, hidden membership costs, hygiene issues, and self consciousness all contribute to a growing distaste with the public gym. In order to solve this problem, more homeowners than ever are building their own home gyms, thereby seeing their waistlines shrink and property values soar.

When considering having a home gym, ask yourself if you will you use an existing room in the house, or build an addition? Certainly, adding on to your house is expensive, but think about the advantages that this option has to offer. You will add valuable square footage to your home, which prospective buyers will be able to use however they wish. Also, you may not have a suitable room already present in your house.

You need the room to have relatively high ceilings if you intend to jump rope or use a mini trampoline. There also needs to be enough space to fit your equipment and a few accessories without feeling cramped.You need to be able to stretch and move, particularly if you will be using aerobics tapes or dancing. By trying to fit your health routine into a small room, you will only become frustrated and lose motivation.

Privacy is another factor. You don't want to do your workout along the main thoroughfare of your home. You will become distracted and interrupted. Again, this will decrease your motivation, so try to carve out a private space where you aren't likely to be bothered. Implementing a 'do not disturb' rule will be helpful as well.

Basements provide the best option for home gyms because they are separate from the main living quarters. Aside from offering privacy, you will be less likely to disturb other family members with the noise of your workout music and clanging free weights. The basement is also a good choice because you don't have to worry about having sufficient floor support. The last thing you want is to have to worry that a dropped dumbbell or a large exercise machine will go crashing through your floor.

As far as the room itself, you will want it to be decorated simply, so as not to distract you from your workout. Cheerful paint colors will brighten your mood, and having a nice view of your garden or other focal point will make your time in the gym more enjoyable.

Good ventilation is a must in a home gym, so be sure to have adequate windows and fans.

For floors, you probably won't want wall to wall carpeting. Carpet can be difficult to work out on, so consider having hardwood or linoleum floors. They will make doing aerobics and yoga much more comfortable.

Once you have a space for your gym, you need to select the equipment. Before you rush out and buy everything that a professional gym has, figure out what your needs are. If you have stairs in your house, you won't need a stair climbing machine. If you bicycle around the neighborhood on weekends, a stationery bike would be a waste.

For beginners, free weights and a stability ball are good starting equipment pieces. Having one or two top quality machines such as a treadmill or an elliptical trainer are good for those who are already committed to an exercise program. So many of us buy expensive equipment with the best intentions, only to have our laundry piling on top of them a few months later. Don't buy anything that may become a dust collector. You will be better off using the machine at a public gym on occasion rather than spending thousands of dollars on something you won't use on a regular basis.

Decorate the room with a convenient towel cupboard, a small fridge for water bottles, and a large mirror are good investments. You will want to have a good sounding stereo system to get you moving. You may also decide to have a small television set in the room as well.

As one of the top three specialty rooms that buyers are looking for in a house, a home gym can be a great addition to your home. Increased property value and improved physical well being: this is the beauty of a home gym.
